THE JUTLAND DISPATCHES

In view of the fact that the official volume of the Battle of Jutland dispatches prepared by Captain Harper, R.N., is now on salp in Now Zealand, it is of interest to note that a correction was made by Lord Jellicoe to a note on page 51 of Command Paper 1068. The Secretary of the Admiralty intimated in Marell last through tho Press that the note on the page mentioned should be altered so as to read that lord Jellicoe considered Plate 4 (a) more accurate than Plate 1 (a). The incorrect statement was duo to Lord Jellicoe not having the plans before him when he requested its publication, and being obliged' to trust to memory about the original plan. The London "Times” explained at the time that the plates referred to are contained in the case accompanying the dispatches. Plate 4 (a) is the plan of battle sent by the Commander-in-Chief to the Admiralty on August 29, 1916, and Plate 1 (a) is the plan of battle enclosed with the commander-in-chief’s letter of June 18, 1916.
