NOTES AND COMMENTS Bt Glencoiu Acceptances for the Otaki Maori Racing Club’s Winter Meeting are due this evening. * Final payments and acceptances for the first dav's events to bo decided at the Auckland Racing Club’s winter fixture must be made by to-morrow. / The coming two-year-old half-sister by King Mark to Hymarty (Hymettus— Unrty), hns been named Hamarty. She is one of V. 11, Collelo’s pupils at Hastings. . From Napier comes word that.Ramanuwhiri (King’s Guest—Ramoana) has been leased by Mr. G. Gunn to Mr. J. H. While.
Mr. W. R. Kemball has leased three rising two-year-olds by Killjoy from Mr. Hassall, of Hawke’s Bay. This stable is getting together a largo string of two-year-olds for next season. George Price has handled four of I he Highden yearlings—a filly by Panmure —Martin, a filly by Panmure—Cease hire, a colt by Panmure— Ostigiya, and a colt hv Panmure —Cordmeut. Iu addition he has the rising three-year-olds Joe Miller, by Absurd—Adelicia, and Creme de Mentho doing steady-work. The annual report of the Canterbury Jockey Club states that the club has had a very successful year. Notwithstanding the increase of ,£3720 in stakes, the balance io credit of the profit and Joss account for the year is a handsome one, in spite of the Government’s new demand for income tax and the amount written off for buildings. The profit and low account shows a credit of £22,191. Receipts wore .£100,563 (including .£67,163 from the totalisator), ami the expenditure £78,372 (including £42,900 for stakes and £19,605 for Government taxes). Mr. b. G. Dalgety’s brood mare, Stepdancer, by Stepmate—Pibrodi, was de-
stroyed last week, on account of old age. Foaled in 1899, Stepdancer was a sister to Menschikoff, and though lacking the brilliancy of her relative, she was a good stayer. She won a number - of races, including two Dunedin Cups. At the stud she produced Stardancer, Warstep, Wardancer, and Warlove, all by Martian. Warstep, of course, was the best performer of this lot, while she and Stardancer look like carrying on the family name at the stud. Mr. Dalgety has sold his farm near Marshlands, where for years he carried on his select stud T' lo mares and young stock have been shifted to Riccarton, and they will lie quartered at Enfield Lodge, opposite the old Middle Park property.’ Warstep has a colt foal, and her sister, Stardancer, a filly foal, both by Nassau, and the two mares are in foal to Autumnus. Lady Disdain’s colt foal, by Martian, is a brother to Bee and Snub, but she is not in foal this season. Nautrille, by SanquharNantes, is in foal to Gay lad.
A Crawford, with O’Rane and Hallowvonia, is going tS Otaki on Monday next. O’Rane has not done any schooling since ho last, raced, but it is hoped to give him a couple of jumps before the Otaki meeting.
J. King, who is in charge of Machree, was one of the first visitors to reach Otaki. He arrived on Tuesday night.
Tho Wanganui meeting exacted a severe toll on the list of jumpers, ana in addition to Slowcoach, Manhattan, and Munition, who were shot at once, d has since been found necessary to dispatch Bon Rove and Play Off. Bon Revo was bred at Yaldliurst and was a dual Derby winner in the Stead f » Later he was sold to Mr. Herb. Neagle, of Takapau, in whose colours he won several valuable jumping races, includ ng the Great Northern-Hurdles and July Steeplechase at Trentham. Luke, who won the Grandstand Steeples at Wanganui, was successful in the same race twelve months ago. He is owned y Mr C F. Vallance, of Masterton, who has a verv useful second string m Stiindee, who*is at present being qualihed at Hayings. . Humnos (Hymettus Paean), one < the Karamu breed, was amongst th winners at the Albion Park Queenjand meeting this month. Humnos earned Tst 12lb and won the Third Division Handicap, in he was the outsider of the field.
