Messrs. Levin and Co. report:—Last week we held yard sales at Rongotea on Wednesday and at Feilding on Friday. At Rongotea there was a small yarding of both sheen and cattle. The former met with a ready sale, but all classes of cattle but dairy etock were difficult of
sale. At Feildinc we had a heavy yardinc ot cattle and a fair entry of sheep. There was a cood demand, for all classes of fat sheep at a slight rise on last week’s figures. Other classes of sheen also sold well and fully maintained late rates. In cattle forward and store bullocks sold at late rates. Other classes of cattle met with a very dragging sale, though most of the cattie changed hands, the vendors had to accept lower nrices than ruled the previous week. We ouote:—At Rongotea: W.f. mixed lambs, 7s. and 7s- Jd.; fat and forward b.f. lambs. Ids. fid.; best springing cows. £l4 10s.; others, 30s. to £3 55.: store cows, ss. to 305.; springing heiters. £7; cows and calves. £2; small weaner heifers, 20s. to 28s. At Feilding: Fat wethers, 14s. lOd. to 16s. 6d.; light fat ewes, 7s. 6d. to 9s. 6d.: fat lambs. Us. 2d.. 12s. 6d., 14s. 7d.: good mixed 2-tooths. 12s. 4d. to 145.; small 2-tooth wethers. Ils. 2d.; good woolly wether lambs. 125.: mixed
Romney lambs. 9s. Id. to 10s. 16d.: medium lambs. ss. to Bs. 3d.: cull lambs. 45.; eljipty Lincoln owes, ss. 7d.-: cull ewes. 45.; ewes. r.w. Messrs. Newton King, Ltd., report:—At Urenui on May 16 we had a fair yarding of sheep, but a poor one of cattle, ths whole offering changing hands at ths hammer. Fat and forward ewes and weth-
ers were the only classes in any marked demand. Forward 2. 4 and 6- tooth wethers, Ils. Id.. Ils. Bd., 12s. 3d.; fat ewes, 14a. 6d.; ewes in lamb. 55., 7s. 6d.; lambs, 3b. 7d„ 3s. Bd.; forward do.. 6s. 4d.; weaner steers. 10s.: weaner heifers. 18s.: store cows, 17s. 6d. to 355.; forward do.. £3 ss. At Stratford on May 17 the sale had an easier tone throughout. Sheep were in poor demand, few pens selling. The demand for cattle was by no means spirited, but most of the offering sold, prices being on a level with late sales. Wellgrown lambs. Bs.: forward wethers. 12s. 9d.; store cows, 305.. 355.; fresh-condition-ed do.. £2 15a.: fat do., £4 io £4 17s. 6d.; 2 and 2Lyear-old steers, £3 35.: weaner heifers, 225. 6d.. 245. 6d., 375.; Jersey do., £3 Is.; weaner steers,. 9e. 6d., Ila. 6d.: dairy cows, £ll 55.. £l2. At Inglewood on May 18 a fair yarding of cattle met with a moderate demand, good weaner heifers being the only class to maintain late prices. Weaner heifers, lie.. 19a.: better Quality do.. 255.. 27b.. 375.; Jersey do., £4; mixed-sex wethers, 125.; store cows, Ils.. 155.; better sorts. 235.. 29e.: Ji-year bullocks. £3 155.: dairy cows, in profit, £B. £l3; lambs. 2s. 6:1.; forward do., 7s. At Rahotu on May 20 a small yarding met with a slack sale, passings being frequent at the hammer. The bulk of the yarding was. eventually cleared, however, prices remaining on a ear with recent sales.
