The falling off in the winter traffic is said to be unusually heavy. The Arahura io to take the Mararoa s run in the East Coast service. SURREY AND SUFFOLK. The Surrey is to sail to-dav for Lyttelton. After ditch ar go she will load in New Zealand for Boston and New York sailing Anally about July 20. The Blue Star steamer Royal Star arrived in the stream last night from Port Chalmers to complete Homeward loading. The Royal Star was launched in 1919 from the yards of Workman, Clark and Co., Ltd., Belfast, for the Blue Star Line. Ltd. She is a two-deck twin-screw steamer with cruiser stern. The vessel burns either coal or oil. and has a maximum speed of
14 knots. At present she is carrying 1100 tons of fuel oil as a reserve. The vessel is not yet fitted with proper masts, and has a dummy mast and posts. An upright derrick carries tho forward end
of tne wireless antennae. Captain B. J. Thomas, who is in charge, is tho senior commander of the Blue Star Line. He is accompanied by his wife. The following aro his officers Chief. Mr. W. Wat-

Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, Melbourne, and Sydney. ( The Waikawa. from Pacific Coast ports, via Auckland, is at present at Port Chalmers. After discharging part cargo she will proceed to Melbourne and Sydney to complete discharge. The Waihemo. from Pacific Coast ports, left Los Angeles on May 2 for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin. Sydney, and Melbourne. She is due at Auckland about May 26. The Waimarino. from Pacific Coast ports. left Auckland this iveek for Melbourne and Sydney to complete discharge. The Wairuna is to leave Nilwcastla shortly for Apia. San Francisco, and Vancouver. NO NELSON OR PICTON BOAT TO-DAY. There will be no Nelson or Picton steamer to-day. as the Arahura withdrew for overhaul on arrival last night. The Mapourika will take up the Nelson-Picton run on Friday, while the Arahura is to take up the Mararoa's running in the Napier. Gisborne, and Auckland trade on completion of her overhaul. lONIC DUE FRIDAY. The S.S. and A. liner lonic will not be able to leave Napier for Wellington non until to-morrow night, and is due here on Friday. She is still timed to sail at daybreak on June 4 for London. MANUKA FOR SYDNEY. The Union Company’s steamer Manuka is timed to sail for Sydney and Hobart at noon to-morrow. LEFT NEWPORT NEWS. The Peshawur left Newport News on May 12 in continuation of her voyage from London to Wellington. She is duo here about June 14. The Whangaratta left Newport News on May'l9. She is bound to Wellington from London in ballast, and comes to tho agency of the Federal Line.
TOFUA FOR THE ISLANDS. The Union Company’s steamer Tofua, now at Auckland, is to sail for Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa on May 28.
PORT PIRIE FOR LONDON. The following passengers have booked by tin/ Port Pirie, which is to leave Wellington at daybreak on Thursday for London, via Panama:—Misces Cargill. Wymar, Cutten. Mrs. Monteith. Messrs. Monteith and Marshall.
SAN FRANCISCO-SYDNEY RUN. The 11.M.5. Manama, the first boat to sail to the new San Francisco-Sydney time-table, was to leave San Francisco yesterday for Sydney, via Wellington. She is duo at Wellington on June 15. and after discharge will proceed to Sydney.
NIAGARA FROM VANCOUVER. The R.M.S. Niagara, from Vancouver, via Pacific ports, is due at Auckland on Saturday morning. She is to leave Auckland at 4 p.m. the same day for Sydney. TUTANEKAI’S TRIP TO NIUE. On Saturday afternoon the Government steamer Tutanekai arrived at Auckland from Niue Island. She left Niue on May 13, proceeding to Sunday Island, where she arrived at noon lust Wednesday. After a stay of 10 hours, the vessel left again, and made calls nt MacCaulev. Curtis, and Lb Esperance Islands, leaving the lastnamed port on Thursday. She alto visited Moko Hinou lighthouse on Saturday morning. KEKERANGU ARRIVES. The Union Company’s steamer Kekerangu arrived in the stream lait night from Newcastle with a load of coal. She was granted pratioue and will berth to-day MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain J. E. Page, late of the Karori, has succeeded Captain D. MacDonald as master of the Kaiapoi. Mr. B. W. Gow has joined the Kittawa as second engineer, vice Mr. D. Beau.

She is bringing coal. The John will not arrive from Wanganui until to-morrow, aud will be unable to tail for Dunedin until Friday. The Kittawa- sailed last night, for WestY? lpre B he will load for Wellington. Tho Komata. will not'arrive from Westport before Friday- or Thursday evening, and will not sail until about Monday on the return trip to the West Coast port. The Kataa is due on Friday from Lyttelton. and is to sail the same day for Auckland.
The Regnlns arrived yesterday from Nelson, and went on to the sll-a for painting and cleaning. She is to sail to-morrow for Westport.
The Calm is due to-morrow from Lyttelton, and is to sail on Saturday for conthern ports.
The Kohi Is due shortly from North Cape with a load of coal.
