A GRAVE SITUATION
BRITISH TROOPS TAKE CHARGE OF TOWN

A grave situation exists in Alexandria, ■and a rumour that a. Greek killed a native led to the natives attacking the Europeans. Tho ambulances were busy all night long. Mobs smashed the shop windows, and all business places were closed.
The Europeans assembled at the Governor’s* house and demanded protection or permission to protect themselves. Firing is now p’roceeding all round and students and natives are attacking Europeans in many places. The Leban district was destroyed- by fire, and it is reported that people were burned alive.
British troops have arrived and taken charge of the town. —Reuter,
