THE NEW POLITICAL PARTY
MEETING OF THE N.P.M.L.P. IN WELLINGTON. A meeting of the National Executive Council of the National Progressive and Moderate Labour Party was held in Wellington on Tuesday, presided over by Mr. < . E. Statham, M.P. The president of the Dunedin District Council (Mr. ,T. S. Douglas, Mayor of Dunedin) was present, The hon. genetai organiser (Mr. AV. P. Black) submitted the report of his activities in Dunedin, where the following representative District Council was formed: —President. His Worship the Mayor of Dunedin (Mr. J. S. Douglas); vicepresident,, Mr. T. Somerville (president of the Chamber of Commerce); treasurer, Mr. J. B. Watters: secretary, Mr. R. F. Algie; council, Messrs, J M. .Stevenson, 11. E. Moller, W. 11. Hayward, H. F. Sincock, Colonel M’Donald, E. Sincock, S. D. M'Donald, J. M’Donald, E. Kellett (Labour M.P.), C. E. Statham, M.P.
The National Executive Council warmly welcomed the Mayor of Dunedin and Mr. E. Kellett, M.P., and unanimously elected them members of the National Ttxecufive. Mr. J. S. Dougins returned thanks for the cordial reception he received.
Tho question of approaching Independent members of Parliament, to join the party was fully considered, and it was resolved unanimously that this be left entirely to the judgment and decision of the leader, Mr. C. E. Statham, M.P.
Tho creation of further district councils was left to the general organiser (Mr. W. P. Black).
