INSTITUTE CRICKET CLUB
A GREAT RECORD. 3’hc annual social of ihe Boys’ Tnstitutc Cricket Club was held on Tuesday evening, and a large attendance of boys were present. Mr. G. A. Troup, president, occupied the chair. A programme of musical items was rendered by Mrs. Clarke (solo), Messrs. M'Haffle and Colvin (duet), Cunliffe (solo), and Hague (violin solo). The playing of the Institute Orchestra, under Mr. Iremonger, was a treat, and the various items were loudly applauded. The director, Mr. J. W. Butler,' said that the cricket club had had a most successful season, and
they had established a record for the number of teams (14) who took part in the championship contests. In the Boys League division, out of five possible championships the Institute ’had secured three, and they were also runners up in the other two, a performance of which they were justly proud. Mrs. W. A. Parton, secretary of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, presented "the cricket medals as follow.—Senior A: Brie Dawe and Eddie Davies. Senior B: W. Iziehoro and W. Nichol. Senior C: A. Cleverly. Junior A: M. Beilby and N. Fordham. Junior C: W. Dougins. Junior Dh N. Noote. Junior E: S Blair and S. White. Junior r- L. Tofts. Junior G: A. Fallon. Junior H: L. Bolt. Mr. C. Bary, headmaster Mount Cook School, presented tho athletic prizes, and congratulated tho boys on their success, the winners baing:—Senior championship, IT. Conway; intermediate, F. Dutch: junior. Bort 'Wickham, the latter being also Um winner of a special gold medal donated by a member of tho committee. Boxing championship: Senior, AV. Hobson: intermediate, 11. Tillis; junior. A. Cleverly. Five m’iles harrier championship, G. Austin. Tim swimming prizes presented by Mr. C. S. Moore were as follow:— Senior championship and Boss Chip. S. Atkinson. Intermediate. A. Humphries. Junior. AL Jackson. Diving championship, J. AFMillan. During the. evening the seven a-side medals presented by the Rugby Union were hando dlo the winners. A very enjoyable, uncial was concluded with eheors for (he president ai/l the singing of lira National Anthem.
