The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court concluded this morning, Fergus William Campbell, aged 17, who pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of indecent assnilt at Oamaru, was released on probation for three years on condition that he paid tho costs of the prosecution, amounting to .£22 145., by monthly instalments. Tuapaea Whitau, guilty of perjury, w.ns released on probation for three years. CHARGES OF THEFT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, iMay 11. Alorris Pascall was found guilty on three charges Of theft. Henry Levy Wolland pleaded guilty to theft of woollen goods, the property of Alackie, Logan, .and Caldwell. Ltd., on February 19.' '.After a retirement of five minutes the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, anil a rider to the effect that accused left the court without a blemish on his character. ABSCONDER. SENTENCED. Harold George, who absconded, and was arrested at Adelaide on a charge of theft from the person at R.iccarton racecourse, has been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment with hard lalxmr.
