HOUSING CRISIS

TRAGICAL HAPPENINGS IN

FRANCE. (Rec. May 11, 8 p.m.) Paris, May 10. The housing crisis in France is becoming tragical. A workman in Lille was unable to secure a house for himself and his prospective bride. The latter broke off the engagement, whereupon the unsuccessful house-hunter fatally shot her and surrendered to the police. There arc many cases of old people hanging, or drowning themselves as n result of ejection from their homes.

The Housing Relief Society in Toulon forcibly seized empty convents in defiance of the authorities, and installed homeless families in them.—Reuter.
