WOMEN DETECTIVES
Members of the London Metropolitan Police Women’s Patrols are now being employed in the capacity of detectives, an interesting innovation which has received the sanction of the Commissioner of Police.
They are not attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, nor'will they take the place of men detectives. Their services as plain-clothes women detectives will bo used only in cases where it is thought that their sex will be on advantage in making inquiries or carrying out observation duties. One or two women have already been engaged on detective work, and their reports hnvo been of great help to the authorities.
Various firms in the West End have for a long time past engaged women detectives for the purpose of capturing shoplifters, and one of these private detectives lias arrested hundreds of thieves.
