HUGE SEAPLANE

BEING CONSTRUCTED IN AMERIC3 FOR TRANS-PACIFIC FLIGHT.

New York, April 19.

The United States Navy is constructing a huge seaplane with which to attempt a irans-Pacific flight late in the summer or early in the spring. The machine is a triplane, with a wing spread of 167

feet, and nine 400 horse-power motors, with a lifting capacity of 30,000 pounds.

It will require a crew of twelve. The tentative route of the flight is San Diego, Honolulu, Wake Island, Guam, and Manila.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
