OTIRA WORKERS’ PAY
Sir,—All the workers at Otira tunnel works were granted concessions in tho form of holiday pay, and men with two years’ service had, rightly, special, consideration. The question of the position of ex-service . . cropped up, tho query lining whether war service should count. Tho Minister of Public Works held that returned men who came to those works aftor discharge should bo allowed to count war service and issued instructions for the money to be paid. Three months have elapsed, end not one of the fifteen returned men on tho works has received a penny of the money due to him. and payment of which was so emphatically insisted upon by tho Minister. We know not who is responsible, but all wo desire is to know whether we pro to bo pnid—and when. The publicity which wo feel sure you will give to the matter would aid us considerably.—l am, etc., EX-SOLDIER. Otira, April 11. 1921. [Tho above matter was referred Io tho Department, which is making inquiry into the circumstances. The Minister of Public Works is at present absent from AVeHipgiVipJ
