THE GUYRA MYSTERY
MORE STRANGE HAPPENINGS.-
(Rec. April 17, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, April 17. The Guyra mystery is still unsolved. Despite the constant vigilance of the police and large numbers of residents, the allegedly ghostly knockings are heard a hundred yards away. Notwithstanding the tangible evidence of half-bricks and large stones smashing things, and also that during the temporary absence of the family the shutters were removed and doors wrenched from the hinges, there is strong local opinion that the effects are of a spiritualistic nature.— Press Assn. , [A message published on Saturdaystated that the small township of Guyra was much perturbed over what was known as “the stone-throwing mystery. For some time the house of a resident had been subjected to nightly stonethrowing, and mysterious rappings. Win-, dows had been smashed and furniture damaged. Vigils by the police and residents. failed to find a solution and spiritualistic means were then employed. A little girl was taken to a room, where the rappings were heard, and in the presence of the police and others the girl referring to a rister recently dead, asked: “Is that youP” Mid received a reply in the affirmative, also messages to her mother stating that the owner of the voice was happy and safe in heaven, and would look after' her mother for the rest of her life.]
