BANDIT KILLED IN FIGHT WITH POLICE. (Rec. April 16, 5.5 p.m.) Ottawa, Illinois, April 15. The wildest scenes attended two daring bank robberies. Four bandits held up two clearing-house messengers on board a train, escaping with 638,000 dollars of negotiable cheques. Simultaneously five bandits held up the Cicero State Bank, obtaining 40,000 dollars. A bank official and the police gave chase, and there was a sensational revolver nnd rifle battle in the streets. One bandit was killed and one fatally wounded. One policeman was wounded. Three bandits were captured and the money recovered. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
