CRISIS HALF OVER BIG MAJORITY FOR MR. HUGHES’S MOTION By Telegraph—Pre«» Aißociation-OoDyriEht. Melbourne, April 16. Mr. Hughes's motion for tho adjournment was carried by 43 votes to 19, and the crisis is regarded as half over. The Ministry is not yet. satisfied, but it is anticipated that an adequate balm will bo forthcoming before Parliament reassembles on Wednesday.—Press Assn. MR. HUGHES’S POSITION MAY BE STRENGTHENED. The Federal Ministerial crisis is causing much comment in view of the extreme view Mr. Hughes takes of tho Country Party’s action in taking business out of the hands of the Government, notwithstanding the repeated assurances that this was quite unintentional, ns is evidenced by the party subsequently voting in a body for Mr. Hughes’s motion. The general view is that Mr. Hughes will find a way not only to remain in office and attend the Imperial Conference, but to exploit the incident and strengthen his position so far as the Country Party is concerned. —Press Assn.
