GOOD RACING AT TEPID BATHS,

The attendance at the swimmingsports held at the Tepid Ba'ihs on Saturday evening was large, and the programme of events was excellent. lha famous American swimmer, Ludy Langer, who was the world’s champion over the middle distances at ''.the last Olympic Games, appeared for the second time before a Wellington attendance, who were well satisfied with his exhibition. He participated in both the 150 yards and 4-10 yards events, and experienced no difficulty in overtaking his opponents, notwithstanding severe handicapping. In the 150 yards race especially, against Patterson .(Eviins Bay). Edwards (Maranui), and- M'Gill (Lyall Bay), Danger put up a fine performance, as his opponents were swimming up to form, and received fair starta. Ho won by about six yards. In the longer event, he was at h.is best, his pace being too much for local contestants. He lowered the New Zealand record by Msec. During the evening Langer gave a fine exhibition of various strokes. The evening's results are as follow:--G 6 3-3 yards handicap—l'irfit neat: King, 1; Allan, 2. Second heat: Turner, 1; Wakeland, 2. Final: Turner, 1; King, 2. Time, 46sec. 33 1-3 yards boys’ handicap—Gibson, 1; Ross, 2. Time, 23sec.

With his characteristic stroke the champion soon caught his opponents, and was well ahead at the thirteenth lap, winning from Pooock by about 13 yards.
