FRENCH TAX ON GERMAN EXPORTS BILL CRITISED IN CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES. (Roe. April 14, 10.50 p.m.)
Paris, April 13.
All the speakers in the Chamber of Deputies’ discussion on tho Bill providing a 50 per cent, tax on German exports criticised the measure on the ground that either French business men would have to pay the tax, or if they refused to buy German goodq they would bo obliged to purchase the goods they needed from other countries whose rate of exchange was against France, for instance England, which would profit greatly. The speakers added that while they intended to vote for the measure as a question of sanctions, they’ hoped the imposition would not be necessary in view of the measures to be taken on May 1. —Aus.-N.Z.
