OTIRA’S VOYAGE FROM ST. JOHN. The Otira arrived at Auckland from St. John, via porks on Saturday afternoon, and anchored in the stream. She left St. John on February 22, and after replenishing bunkers at Norfolk, proceeded to Matanzas (Cuba), where she loaded 3000 tons of sugar for Sydney. She left Panama on March 17, and took a northerly route across the Pacific, passing through the Tunmotu Archipelago Fine heather was experienced until about four days from Auckland when very heavy weather was met. reducing the vessel’s speed considerably. Captain J. H. Gaskell. R.N.R.. is in command. From. Auckland the Otira will come to Wellington, and is due here about Friday. She will go to Dunedin. Melbourne, and Sydney after discharge here.
PORT PIRIE DUE MONDAY. The Port Pirie arrived at Auckland from London, via Panama, on Friday, and. at the Queen’s Wharf. She left London on March 1, and experienced fairly heavy weather for the first week., thence fine weather till arrival at Colon on March 16. She cleared the canal the following day, meeting with favourable conditions for the remainder of the voyage. She averaged over 12 knots on the trip, which was completed in the fast time of 37 days. This vessel is the first of the C. and D. Line to go to Auckland direct from London, via Panama, these vessels previously having come via Cape Town and Australian ports. Frofn Auckland the Port Pirie will proceed to Wellington (being due here on Monday) and New Plymouth, and will subsequently load in New Zealand for the United Kingdom. Captain W. Mason is in command. MANUKA DUE THIS MORNING. The Union Company’s steamer Manuka has advised by wireless that she will arrive in the stream at 6 a.m. to-day. If granted pratique, she will berth later in the morning at No. 6 Queen’s Wharf. She will sail on the return trip to Sydney at 5 p.m. to-morrow. PORT HACKING’S MOVEMENTS. Tho C. and D. liner advise that the Port Hacking is to leave Lyttelton tomorrow for Dunedin. From Dunedin the vessel goes to Nelson. New Plymouth. Wanganui, and Wellington to load Homeward. PIAKO TO LEAVE AUCKLAND TO-DAY. The Federal Line have received advice from Auckland that the Piako is to leave the northern port at daylight to-day, and is due here on Friday. CANADIAN EXPORTER DELAYED. The Canadian Exporter has been delayed here, and will not be able to sail for Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney before Saturday. She was to have got away on Friday. TARAWERA TOR SYDNEY. The Union Company’s cargo steamer Taruwera is due at Bluff from Sydney towards the end of the week. She will then visit Dunedin and Wellington, being due here about the middle of next week. She will sail a day or two later for Newcastle and Sydney. WESTRALIA SAILS. The Huddart-Pnrker steamer Westralia sailed last night for Lyttelton, other southern porta, and Melbourne. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. J. Duthie has joined the Ngahere as mate, vice Mr. J. Hincmuller. Mr. H. Sandison, extra officer of the Waitemata, has left that vessel. Mr. W. J. Williamson has signed on the Ngahere as third engineer, in place at Mr. C. F. Mvrphy. The Kokiri, due to-morrow from Greymouth, is bringing timber as well as C< Th’e Waitemata Is to sail at daylight to-day for Newcastle. The Karu is due with cement on Sunday from Tarakoho. and will sail on Monday for Lyttelton. The John left Wanganui on Monday night for Oainaru. She will load at that port and at Lyttelton for Wanganui. The Kannu, which is due from Napier to-morrow, will sail for Dunedin direct on Friday. . , t „ The Glaucns is loading coal at Newcastle for Wellington. She will come to the agency of Messrs.
