It is purely a.question of giving the cash customei an innings, and reducing the stock ot high-priced stuff-which may be to our mutual benefit. The reduction on s'i (s of the more ordinary kind during the past six weeks 'has also been practically two guineas. Of cour?C. 1 am speaking for my own business. I believ? we are pretty nearly at bo tom now> lor a goni many months to come, because both wholesalers and retailers have ceased to place any further import orders for the present. I anticipate that so far as choice goods are concerned in a very tew months there will be a decided shortage '“AnothOT tailor told the reporter that suite fi'hioh his firm had been sril'iig lot 1.1 15 and 16 guineas some months agu were now- down to 13, 14, and -'. un ® a3 a resnectively. A third, also conducting a tagTuS, had a rather different sta eD Le to miiki! He saril that no doubt cheapen suite -ere to be had but only from firms , which had taught certain lines at a favourable figure, and could consequently afford to reduce the cost o. them to the customer.
