THE CENSUS
As already announced, the census will be taken on the night of Sunday week, April 17. By advertisement in these columns every householder or other person in charge of public or’private dwellings is reminded of his responsibility to furnish particulars of persons spending that night in his dwelling. The schedules are now being distributed, and any householder who has not received a schedule by 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, is requested to ring up the census enumerator for his respective district.
In regard to the district comprising the Hutt and Makara Counties (which includes AVellington city and suburbs), the census enumerator (namejy, the chief postmaster) can be communicated with on telephone No. 9978. Householders are advised to carefully read the instructions contained in the schedule before proceeding with the insertion of the particulars required thereon. If this be done, it is not anticipated that any difficulty will be found in tho compilation of the statement. Should there, however, be doubt on any point, the sub-enumerator will furnish necessary direction on his calling for tho schedule. The Wellington district is divided into forty-two sub-districts of which twentysix comprise Wellington city. The subenumerators will have a heavy task in the collection and checking of the schedules, and householders will render valuable assistance by having their schedule ready for delivery when called for on the morning of April 18, or later.
