Mr. Guy Johnston, Consul for Belgium, has been created a Knight of the Ordei of the Crown of Belgium. Advise to the above effect was received yesterday by cablegram from King Albert of Belgium.

At a meeting of the board of directors of the Bank of New Zealand, held yesterday, Mr. Harold Beauchamp was reelected chairman for the ensuing year. Mr. J. Corrie is not standing again for the Mayoralty of Blenheim. So far the announced candidates for the office are Messis. W. D. Dike and Bernard Cooke.

Mr. C. R. Chapman, of Dunedin, is going to England by the Rimutaka next week, and expects to be away seven months.

Mr. Robert M'Gregor Goldsman was yesterday admitted as a solicitor by His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout).
