SOUTH KARORI LANDS THE COMMISSION'S REPORT The report of the commission that recently inquired into the merits of a petition praying for the exclusion of certain oreustfrom Wellington City and for their inclusion in Makara County, was before the City Council at its meeting last night. The report was addressed to Hie Excellency the Governor-General. It stated that after due consideration the commission was of opinion that some of the lands affected by the petition were unsuitable for municipal control. “In particular,” ths commiedioners wrote, “we think that those parts which should bo excluded from the city of Wellington ami included in the county of Makara as being unsuitable for municipal control are as follow: — (1) Section 49 and part Sections 42 and 43. Block V, Port Nicholson Survey District. (2) Parte of Sections 2 and 9, Block VI. □ E , (8) Parts of Sections 56 and 07, Blook VI. (4) Part of Section 10, Block X, was found to ba in the county of Makara,

and should remain there. "The remainder of the land referred to in th© petition, being parts of Sections 35 and- 37, Block VI, and parte of Sections 41, 42, and 43, Block V, should remain in the city of Wellington, as it is, in our opinion, suitable for municipal control.” The commesioners were Messrs. W. G. Riddell, S.M. (chairman), G. H. M. M’Clure, and F. N. Martin. In a report to the council the Finance Committee stated that a plan would be prepared illustrating the finding of the commission, and would be laid before the council at a later meeting. .
