RUGBY FOOTBALL

NEW ZEALAND UNION. A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union was held last night, when there were present: Messrs. G. Slax’e (chairman), A. C. Kitto, H. Paton, S. S. Deans. A. J. Griffiths, G. A. Howe, and R. T. Bailey. A letter was received from tho Canterbury Rugby Union asking that, in connection with tho South African tour a test match be allotted to Christchurch. It was decided to hold the matter over until the itinerary for the South African tour, is drawn up. Permission was granted for a New Zealand University team to tour New South Wales in the coming season. The team proposes to sail for Sydney on May 21, and to return on June 15. A request that the team should be allowed to play against Wellington on May 18 was granted, subject wo the approval of the Wellington Rugby Union.
