NEARLY AN ACCIDENT
ON THE WADESTOWN TRAM LINE.
A resident of Wadestown called at The Dominion Office to report what might have been a most serious smash-up on the Wadestown tram line. Our informant stated that when' proceeding home between 5 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, a car, bound up the hill, stopped as usual at the siding at Grosvenor Terrace. After waiting a minute or two it proceeded on. Between tihere and the Highland Park stop there is a sharp turn in the track, and it as ■impossible to see far ahead. Just as the car was working round the bend, a down oar came along at a good pace. As both cars were on the one track an accident seemed imminent, but fortunately the down car was pulled up only- a yard or two from the other. The latter had then to return to the Grosvenor Terrace siding in order to allow tihe cars to pass one another. ' Our informant says that a similar narrow escape from accident occurred at the same place a week ago, and he is afraid that if something is not done to regulate the traffic better there will be an ugly accident at this point.
