By Telegraph.—Press Association
Auckland, April 7.
Claims by th© New Zealand Jockeys Association to recover from G. H. Garment and other members certain moneys, being a percentage of their winnings fees, was called on this morning in the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. M'Kean; S.M. Mr. Bagnall, when the first case was called, said that this was one of twentythree cases in which he had been instructed for the defence by Mr. C. P. Skerrett. Just before Easter he saw Mr. Skerrett, and he agreed that there was no defence on law. Mr. Bagnall said that he must ask the Court to adjourn all the cases for fourteen days, to enable him to write to each defendant, informing him of the position, as he did not wish judgment to be entered against them by default. Mr. Skelton, for the plaintiff association. said that although he was instructed to oppose any adjournment, it seemed to him that Mr. Bagnall’s request was a reasonable one. His Worship adjourned all the cases for .fourteen days.
