Vice-Rkgal. i The Governor-General (Lord Jellicoe) and his party arrived at Greymouth yesterday at 6 p.m. The town was decorated, and at a public reception in the Town Hall at 8 p.m. a large crowd was present. The Mayor (Mr. J. D. Lynch) presented an address, and Mr. !• Seddon, M.P., also epoke. Lord Jellicoe -warmly thanked the “West Coasters for their very coi-dial welcome. To-day the Vice-Regal party will visit the State mines and hospital. They will also meet the children and attend a ball and Caledonian "ingleside” in the evening. During the absence of Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp, Consular Agent for Italy, Mr. P. R. Cooke, of the firm of Chapman, Skervett, Tripp, and Blairj will act as Consular Agent for Italy in Wellington.

Brindley,' manager for New Zealand of the hro and marine department of the same firm, left for the south by last night’s forry steamer. They will return to Wellington on April 18 to attend the annual conference of insurance managers, which will open' on April 20. At a meeting of the management committee of tho Cricket Association last night, the chairman (Mr. C. G. Wilson) made eulogistic references to the services rendered by Mr. H. Thomas, of the City Council staff, in connection with the test and representative matches played under the jurisdiction of the association. 'The committee decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mr. Thomae. Dr. and Mrs. Whitaker, of Palmerston North, will leave by the Manuka next week for . Sydney, where they will join the Orvioto' for England.

Mr. Raymond Fayette Stover, Canadian American author, of New York City, and son of the well-known Canadian capitalist, Samuel Stover, has arrived in Auckland, accompanied by Mr. Alexander M'Kay Smith Paddocks, of Boston, son of ilhe Rev. Ernest Moorhead Paddocks, of Cambridge. Mr. Stover is gathering material lor a new book.
