SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

-• The response to the invitations of Miss Peggy Jones's concert at the Sailors’ Friend Society, on Tuesday, was proof of the jxipulnrity of these concerts for seamen. The performers were: Mesdames I. Davy, Paterson, I’. Morgan, and Misses P. Jones, L. Hymns, ami J. Lewis, and Messrs. T. E. Jones, White (Ulimaroa), Miller (Ulimaroa), Taylor (Port Melbourne), and Gretner (Australind). Mrs I. Davy and Miss Hannah were at the piano. Mr. Moore gave a chat on temperance matters, and pledges followed. The competitions filled in important places. The prizes came from the hostess and friends, and went to the “Mahana” and “Bimutaka.”
