The Country Party has elected Dr. Earle Page as leader, vice Mr. M’Williams, and Mr. Gregory, deputy leader. It also decided not to support the motion of Mr. Fowler, who proposes to formally move his motion of no confidence in the Government, hut allow it to lapse.—Press Asen.
(Bee. April 6, 10.35 p.m.) Melbourne, April G. Mr. Fowler states that he has decided not to proceed with the censure motion on the ground that if he did so it would probably be seized upon by the Labour Party to the embarrassment of his friends.—Press Assn.
MB. FOWMR A STRAIGHT-OUT NATIONALIST. Perth; April 6' Mr. Leslie, president of tne ?'.:tional Federation, states that Mr. Fowler is not an independent. He was endorsed ae a straight-out Nationalist and returned as such.—Press Assn.
ROUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MEETS
NO NEW LEGISLATION TO BE INTRODUCED. (Rec. April 6, 10.35 p.m.) Melbourne, April 6. The Federal House of Representatives lias reassembled. Mr. Mohony gave notice of his intention to move the adjournment to discuss the Cockatoo Island question and the recent dismissal of workmen. Mr. Hughes stated that it was not the intention of the Government to introduce nny newt legislation this session, but to confine consideration to the tariff. He would give the House an opportunity on Thursday to discuss the Imperial Conference.—4 Press Assn.
THE NEW CAPITAL CITY. (Rec. April- 7, 1.30 a.m.) Melbourne, April 6. Tn the House of Representatives Dr. Page gave' notice of a motion that the Minister of State for the Colonies should, after the prorogation of flip present session, advise the Governor-General to summon the next session at Canberra.—Press Assn.
