1 TRADES UNION AMALGAM A- ( TION BUILDING INDUSTRY CONCERNED It is understood that a movement is on foot for the amalgamation of several trades unions in Wellington connected with the building industry. The idea is not of recent growth for proposals of a similar nature have been made on more than one previous occasion. As members of the various organisations concerned are believed to be prepared to consider ways and means of putting the project into effect, a conference is likely to take place within a few days for the purpose of hearing details expounded. Should the proposal develop to a practical stage, it may lead to the pooling of the funds at present controlled by individual unions, and th© idea. may be ultimately prosecuted bn a national basis.
