As a birthday present on the c: ehsion of her eighty-fourth birthday, which occurred on Sunday, the King created Aites Genevieve AVard (Countess de Guerbei). the famous tragedienne, a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.—Sydney "Sun.” [Miss Genevieve AVard was a famous actress of the last century. Originally intended for an operatic career, she lost her singing voice through diphtheria in 1862, and then took to the regular stage. She made her first appearance on tho dramatic st?ig« «« Eady Alacberth at Manchester in 1873. and acted continuously up to 1917. He,r fifkt famous part was Stephanie do Alohrivart, in "Forgtt-rnc-not,” a role which she er.acted over 2600 times all over the world. In 1883 she commenced an "all-world” tour, which extended to India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. In 1875 Aliss Wand married the Count de Guerbei in Warsaw. Some menths ago Miss Genevieve AVard showed that she is still a great artist by reappearing nn the stage.]
