THE JURY LIST
HARBOUR BOARD EXEMPTIONS.
At a meeting of Justices of the Peace to certify to the jury list yesterday, Air. J. F. B. Stevenson, on behalf of the Harbour Board, applied to have certain of the board’s employees exempted. Ho contended that the men were special constables, and their duties, besides regulating and controlling the traffic, included the detection of pilfering. Inspector M’llveney pointed out that, the duties of these men were limited to an area within a mile of the wharf, and therefore they could not be held to be constables within the meaning of tho Act. Ho had no objection to the exemption of a man acting as caretaker of tho Boat Harbour. Mr. Stevenson said that he intended to apply for removal from tho list of tho names of 15 employees, who were called upon to exercise the duties of special constablesOn examining the jury list, it was found that, two out of the 15 names were not. on the list, -and eventually Mr. H. W. Bundle. SAT., who presided, stated that the thirteen names would be removed.
