MANY TASKS

MR. MASSEY IN LONDON BUSY DAYS AHEAD The mailship Niagara, which is to take the Prime Minister and Mrs. Maasey from New Zealand ,on their way to London, is timed to leave Auckland on April 16. If there are’ no unforeseen delays, Mr. Massey will reach London ten days or so before the date fixed for the opening of the Imperial Conference, line will be scant time for the many important duties that he has to undertake in addition to representing New Zealand in the discussion of Imperial affairs. An endeavour to negotiate a loan is one of Mr. Massey’s ta£ks. Then there is the question of the surplus wool profits. The producers’ conference has asked Mr Massey to take? up the discussion of this matter with the Imperial author ities, and has authorised him to effect a final settlement on behalf of the New Zealand farmers. He will require to give some attention to the problems connected with the disposal of meat, and he will be likely to find himself involved in the discussion of shipping freights. Corilain outstanding accounts between the New Zealand Government and the British Government, in connection with tho war, may also require Mr. s attention. Obviously the Prime Minister will be a very busy man while he is in London, especially if the sittings of the Imperial Conference are lengthy.
