INFECTIOUS DISEASES
CASES FOR THE WEEK AN APPRECIABLE FALLING-OFF Notifications of cases of infectious diseas for the Wellington health district show an appreciable falling off for the week ended noon yesterday, compared with tho previous week. In all 23 cases were recorded, representing a decrease cf 13. The number of cases of diphtheria were reduced by ten, and those of scarlet fever by six. The total number of cases of infantile paralysis reported for the four-weekly period ending yesterday was five. Hospital districts from which notifications were received- during the past week were as follow: — Palmerston North. —Scarlet fever, 1; diphtheria, 2; varicella, 1. Wellington.—Diphtheria, 3; tuberculosis. 4; infantile paralysis, 1; varicella, 3; pneumonia, 3; opthalmia neonatorium, 1. Wairarapa.—Scarlet fever, 1; diphtheria. 2; infantile paralysis. 1.
