Blackmail got galloped on during the running of the Great Easter Handicap, and she could not start on the' second day of the meeting. The two-yearteld Rational has been suffering with a slight cold lately, but he is all right again, and is to be a runner in the North Island Challenge Stakes and the Pacific Handicap at the Wellington meeting. Two-year-olds will comprise the bulk of the field in the Challenge Stakes at Trentham, but it is quite probable that the elder division will be represented by that smart performer, Silver Link. Amongst the runners in the Juvenile Handicap at Avondale to-day is Tireless, one of Mr. Alison’s Australian purchases. Tireless had his first outing at Ellerslie last week, and surprised his conections by finishing close up fourth in a good field. , , . j Tho Australian Jockey Club is advertising for a judge, nnd one of the conditions of the appointment is that the successful applicant must possess eyesight sufficiently good to. pass ft vigorous test This innovation should find favour in New Zealand, for sportsmen do not possess much confidence in judges whose eyesight is faulty.
