RAY FOX GORDON SHORT RECITAL
AV hen a composer such as Mendelssohn spends five years (on and off) oni on e composition before he is satisfied with t (as was the ease when ho wrote his famous violin concerto) it is not surprising that the, work should become a classic. The beautiful slow movement of this, concerto is always a popular favourite, and it is-pleasing to note that the whole concerto' is to be -performed bv Miss Ray Fox and Mr. Gordon Shoit at their first recital in the Concert Chamber to-night. _ These two artists will' be associated in Sarasota s. Fqn■fasia on Faust” (Gounod), and a number of other violin solns. Mr Gordon Short’s performance of Beethoven s noble fl flat snnata (opus. 31) will be looked forward to with great interest, as ho did not include any Beethoven numbers in h’’s lost nroerrarnme. His performance of "Rigolefto” by Verdi-Lizst in AooInid" created n yrefnnnd impression. A group of Brahms’ items will also he ' Ire.uded in the programme.
