EASTBOURNE AFFAIRS
The Eastbourne Borough Council met on Friday night, when there were The Deputy-Mayor (Mr. H. JV. Short), Councillors W. Bay, W. H. G- Bennett. oU ' lcl “? r h T Childs. O. L. Green. O' A Marquis, and T. W. Pilcher. A deputation from the Muritai Sports, Club -waited on the council to ref l that the recreation ground should be put. in better condition. It was decided to assist the club as far as possible and that improvements should be effected. The chairman of the works committee reported that Mr. Sladden had completed the plans and report on Totara Street, and that the work of putting the street in order would be started about April 8. It was reported that another 30 lene street lamps were being installed tn the borough, and that the work would be completed by the end of the mon h. The chairman of the reserves committee informed the council that the tree guards in the district would be nut in a state of repair within tho next few weeks. It was reported that the work on Tuntom Street had been completed, and that residents would now have a short cut tO The° council has decided that fires may be lighted in the open-air., provided permits are obtained. ... . , The town clerk was instructed to taKe immediate action agrainst those ratepayers who are in arrear with their rates. The following accounts were passed for payment —Diktat fund account. £276 16s. Hd.; f-ftrry service account, £1464 Ils. lOd.
