INCREASE IN RATE OF ISSUE

Good progress is being made by the Defence authorities with tho issue ot British war medals to former mehibers of th.e N.Z.E.F. and the next-of-kui of deceased soldiers. The work of engraving the medaU was commenced on January 19 last, from whicli date the output has steadily increased, being now 300 per day. A second engraving machine will be available presently, and the British war medals will then be engraved and issued at the rate of 3000 each week • During December, 1920, iOOO 1914-15 Stars remained unclaimed, but special eiforts have been made to reduce this number.
