Palmerston North, March 2v.

Up io the present the only peieon who has announced himself as a candidate for the Mayoralty of Palmerston Nortn is Mr. .E. 11. Crabb, who ha-i been a councillor for several years. On Saturday afternoon a largo and representative deputation waited upon Mr. J. A. Nash, who has held the position for the' past fourteen years, and who had expressed his intention of not again offering himself for the position, and asked him to reconsider his decision. A requisition signed by about a thousand citizens was also presented to him, asking him to stand again. While expressing himself as feeling highly honoured at the request, Mr. Nash [minted out that with his Parliamentwy duties his time was pretty well occupied. He said he would take a few days to consider the matter before giving a definite reply.
