At the farewell gathering tendered to Mr. J. H, Lynskey by the I’el.oim ( riek'-l Club on Saturday nighl, Mr. W. S Brice, capbiin of the senior fifteen, speaking of the condition of the wicket on the Oval, said that one night during leiweek lie had gone over to practice, and had noticed a member endeavouring to roll the pitch. Completing one "turn,” the member in question dropped the -oil er and. gazing affectionately at the hitch, he remarked: “By Jove, it’s many, a match you’ve won for us, old chap!”
