WELLINGTON OLUB. The annual meeting of the Wellington Hookey Association will be held 1 on Monday evening next in the.Y.M.C.A. rooms. The annual report to be presented states that there are now twelve clubs affiliated to the association, representing a membership of 250 players; and it i» expected that during the forthconiine' season there will be a marked increase. In last season’s competition, twenty-0110 teams competed in the championship contests, ns follow:—Senior grade, 10 teams; j'unior grade, 11 teams. In both grades the honours were closely contested, and competition was very keen. Tho senior championship was won .by Ramblers, and United were the runners-up. In the junior competition, Wesley A obtained tho top of the ladder while Huia occupied the second position. A Wellington representative team was defeated by Auckland by 4 goals to 2, and generally speaking, the association had an unfortunate representative season, practically every match being played away from home. A match was also played between a representative soldiers’ team and a representative team of players from the association as a. curtain-raiser to the Rugby footl>all match witnessed by His Royal Highness the Prlr.ec of Wales. The match, which wan won by the latter team by 3 goals to 2, was of a fast open nature, and displayed.- to the nubile the possibilities of hockey. "If more games each as this were played before a large number cf spectators, it would do illimitable good In promoting tho game," ndds the report. The report concludes: Tho thnnks of tho Znsociation are tendered to Mr. C. M. llav. late secretary. Dr. Faulke. and Mr. R. n. G. Burn, for donations to tho funds of the association; to Mr. A. W. Manntng. who. In his capacity as solo “elector. hns given the utmost, satisfaction; and to the members of the Hockey Referees’ Association for valuable assistance given throughout, the season.
