As matters now stand it will only bo possible to give him two races before the Trantham Gold Cup. This ''? 11 Great Easter Handicap and the C.ial lenge Stakes, both seven-furlong races.

Such a light preparation does not augur well for the chances of the Martian gelding successfully opposing Gloaming over two miles the week following. G. Jones is leaving Nanier this morning with Sasanof, Truthful, Surveyor, and Mermm, who are to race at the C.J.C. Easter meeting. Mr. H. M. Campbell, M.P., will be represented by Matatane at Ellerslie. Her trainer (w. Stone) is taking .Lovematch to the same meeting. The local trainer H. Telford has accepted for both SolfanelLa and Blackmail in the C.J.C. Great Easter Handicap. As the first-named is a better performer over seven furlongs than a mile it is probably the intention of the trainer named to patronise the southern fixture. T. George, with Lord Usk and War Baby; A. D. Webster, with Sir Fanciful and Bestir; and J. M'Laughlin, with Fortune Teller, returned from Blenheim on Saturday morning. , , Mr. H. E. Troutbeck, whose colours hav® not been carried prominently of late, had a good innings at Napier at the week-end, where Rnatara and Spook both won. The firsbnientioned cost 1200gns. in the spring, and this is the first return he has made his owner. Spook is a five-year-old gelding by Sylvia Park from Mysticism, and this was his first success also.
