AN EXPENSIVE JOY RIDE

A young man. Joseph Bramwell, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday before Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., charged with drunkenness, also with using obscene language. It was stated that Bramwell was indulging in a ioy ride, and at one o’clock on Saturday morning a constable found it necessary to caution him. He was in a taxi-cab and drunk, and there were, some girls in the taxi with him, who, according to Sub-Inspector Willis, were somewhat lively. When spoken to by the constable, Bramwell became abusive, and used obscene language. Tn reply to the Magistrate, SuL’-Tnspec-tor Willis said that the number of the taxi-cab was known, and that more would bn hoard of the m itter. Bramwell pleaded guilty to both charges, and was fined 20s. for drunkenness and 40s. for using the obscene language, and in default 14 days’ imprisonment.
