NEWMARKET HANDICAP WON BY BLUE CROSS SIRES’ PRODUCE STAKES CARRIED OFF BY ISA. (Rec. March 6, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, March 6. There was fine but blowy weather for the Victoria Racing Club’s Autumn Meeting. The attendance was good. The going was a trifle heavy. The veteran Nick-a-Jack, ridden by the ex-New Zealander, M'Gregor, created a surprise by finishing strongly and winning the Pines Hurdle Race easily from .the fancied Tullilah. Nautical led all the way in the St. Leger Stakes, winning easily. Salitros, who was the favourite, got an indifferent start, and was li®t early in the race. Nautical will now carry 7st. 111 b. in the Australian Cup. Nautical is owned by his breeder, Mr. James Wilson, of Bonnyvale. Eurythmic, who was last early in the Essendon Stakes, went to the front in the straight and won comfortably. This is Kurythmic’s seventh win in eight Victorian starts. The time was slow. Eurythmic is engaged for all the weight-for-age races at the meeting, and is trained by Holt for the AVest Australian, Mr. E. Lee Steere.
