A NEW JUDGE

MR. A. S. ADAMS TO BE APPOINTED. It was announced on Saturday that Air. A. S. Adams, of Dunedin, would be appointed io the Supreme Courtl bench to fill the vacancy that will be created at the end of this month by the retirement of Mr. Justice Cooper. Sir. Adams was born at Taieri Mouth, near Dunedin, sixty years ago. His father, Mr. J. J. Adams, was a pioneer settler who arrived in Dunedin in 1848. Admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 1883, Mr. Adams has practised in Dunedin ever since. He became Crown Prosecutor last year, after the appointment of Mr. MacGregor, K.C., to the office of Solicitor-General. Mr. Adams has taken a prominent part os president of the New Zealand Alliance, in the camcaign for prohibition in this country.
