Duncan, of Otairi, Hunterville, and was leased by Mr. W. Duncan, for whom he won many big handicaps. This season he was raced by his 'breeder, in whose colours he won the Manawatu Cup. There was a great finish in the two-year-old handicap at Wanganui- on Saturday, when tho three Boniform fillies Amorel, Scion, and Sleeping Beauty all dashed across the line together. The lastnamed tried to win all tho way, but Scion headed her a few strides off the post, while Amorel also <rot up. The last-named hung badly on the turn, otherwise she w“nid have proved the winner. It was only the bulldog finishing run of Solfanella that won the Farewell Handicap for him on Saturday. Nursing Sister set a very fast pace, and led till well intn the straight, where Kinsem caught her, but in the last few yards Solfanella dashed up on the outside and just The nominations received for the Canterbury jockey Club’s Great Faster and Great Autumn Handicaps show a big falling off on the figures of la»t. year, when 49 horses were nominated for Knc «reat Easter and 36 for the mile and a half race.
