METHODIST CONFERENCE
APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEES. The Methodist Conference continued its sittings yesterday, the president, Rev. W. Grigg, being in the chair. Tho Rev. AV. Cannoli, r f New Plymouth, having attained tho diamond jubilee' of his ministry, a letter of cordial congratulation was directed to be forwarded to him. Similar congratulations were extended to the Revs. T. G. Carr, G. Bond, H. R. Dewsbury, and J. Thomas, who have completed a ministry of 50 years. The sympathy of the conference was extended to the family of the late Mr. .1. Marion, news of whoso sudden death was received yesterday morning, also to the New Zealand Alliance, cf which body Mr. Marion was an official. The following lay representatives were elected to the Stationing Committee:— Messrs. H. Field, W. S. Stone, J. F. G. H. Gilling, E. Dixon, IV. Ambury, J. Crisp, F. S. Guy, B. J. Lynneberg, H. P. Monrnnt, E. H. Penny, A Lucas. W. Dobbs, AV. Simpson, J. Watson, T. E. Child®, E. Roseveare, F. W. Prcddy, G. Sheat, and C. K. AVrigglesworth. The following were appointed conveners of the committees of details: — Circuits, R?v. E. Frost; Connexional Funds and Balance-sheets, Mr. C. Swiney; Foreign Missions, Rev. AV. A. Sinclair; Institutions, Rev. J. A. Lochore; General Questions, Rev. J. Cocker; Sunday Schools and Young People’s Department, Rev. C. H. Olds, 8.A.; Complaints and Appeals, Rev. A. Ashcroft; Supernumerary Fund, Rev. S. Lawny. A special committee was. also set up fo deal with Centenary Fund affairs, the conveners being the Re.v. A. C. Lawry.
