DECONTROL OF COAL
OPPOSITION OF BRITISH MINERS. London, February 24. The Miners’ Conference passed a resolution to oppose by every means in its power the decontrol of coal, which would be prejudicial to the interests of the trade and the nation generally. Ihe executive is preparing a scheme for a levy for the support of the unemployed miners.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE WAGES QUESTION. (Rec. February 25, 11.25 p.m.) London, February 25. The Coal Owners’ Association has notified the miners that it cannot discuss the wages settlement on a national basis, and is willing only to consider reversion to district settlements.—Aus.-N.Z.
