BOYS’ INSTITUTE

The annual social and presentation of prizes in connection with the Boys institute took place on Monday evening. The president (Mr. G. A. Troup) was ii the chair, and over 200 boys were present. The chairman congratulated the members on the excellent showing in the cricket competitions, and presented a bat. to AV. Lachorc, who secured the first century of the season. After refreshments had been partaken of, the toast of ‘ Our President was proposed by the director, and received with musical honours and cheerg bj the bovs. The president, in responding, spoke of the growth of the institute of recent years, and stated that it was intended to enlarge the accommodation to provide for the ever-increasing membership. The home for boys was doi-ng good work, and the director and matron weio to be congratulated on the success of their efforts.
