PROPOSAL TO ACCEPT GERMAN BONDS IN PAYMENT.

(Rec. February 22, 11.30 p.m.) Washington, February 21. Tt is understood that President AA ilson will shortly recommend Congress to accept a special issue of German bonds to pay the. debt Belgium owes to the United States, approximately 170,000,000 dollars. President AA’ilson’s, action will be in accordance with the agreement reached with Air. Lloyd George and M. Clemenceau at Paris in 1919.- by v the Legislatures of tho three countries would be asked to accept a special issue of a billion dollars in German bonds in lieu of what Belgium owes them. It is thought; improbable that Congress will accept this ' arrangement.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
