TRANSFER OF TERRITORY TO BRITAIN. Rec. February 23, 0.45 a.m.) Washington, February 21. The transference of pari of the Syrian mandated territory from France to Britain under a convention formally concluded between them without reference to’ tho League of Nations is considered as an apparent violation of the Treaty of Versailles. State Department officials pointed out that tho entire mandate question was so involved that it was being officially' investigated' by the United States in order to determine tho precise status of tho various conventions. —Aus.-N.Z.
